Overview

Live Coding (interviews), in which the interviewer and the candidate edit code and diagrams together online, will be discontinued on Thursday, December 24, 2026. After discontinuation, you will no longer be able to create or conduct live coding interviews on HireRoo.

For checking skills in interviews, you can use the AI interviewer format. In this format, the candidate writes the code themselves, the AI interviewer gives hints, and after implementation the AI interviewer asks about the approach and complexity (expected to be available in early November 2026; availability depends on your contract).

For companies that have not conducted live coding in the last six months, new interviews can no longer be created from the end of November 2026. Companies that have conducted live coding in the last six months can continue to use it as before until December 24. For both, interviews created before the end of November can be conducted until December 24.

Background

With the spread of generative AI, HireRoo is moving to AI Collaboration format tests and to the new report built around SEI. To focus our limited development resources on improving these, we have decided to discontinue Live Coding.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience to everyone who has been using it in interviews.

What we ask you to do

  1. Check interviews scheduled after December 24: If you have interviews already created or being scheduled, please consider switching to the AI interviewer format or another option.
  2. Organize the abilities you assess with live coding: Please consider whether the abilities you check in interviews can be evaluated with the AI interviewer format. In the AI interviewer format, the AI interviewer talks with the candidate in place of the interviewer.
  3. Check the interview records you want to keep: After discontinuation, the code, evaluations, and notes of past interviews can no longer be viewed. They cannot be exported or saved on your side. If you need them, please contact your Customer Success representative by Friday, December 18, 2026. HireRoo will export them and provide them to you.

Q. Can interviews created before the end of November be conducted in December? A. Yes. What stops at the end of November is only the creation of new interviews; interviews already created can be conducted until December 24.

Q. Which test should we use instead? A. For checking skills in interviews, you can use the AI interviewer format. Since the suitable questions depend on the abilities you assess, your Customer Success representative will be happy to advise you.
